Condit Exhibits Names Donnie MacDonald VP Operations

Denver – Condit Exhibits promoted Donnie MacDonald (above) to VP Operations. He had been a project developer and estimator at the Denver-based trade show exhibitor manufacturer.

MacDonald has more than 20 years of production experience in the exhibit manufacturing industry, including architectural millwork, corporate events, and film/TV. He was VP Operations for Dallas-based PG Exhibits prior to joining Condit in 2017. MacDonald’s knowledge of fabrication, design, materials, and technology will be assets in his new role, says Condit CEO Mike McGowan.

“We believe Donnie is best equipped to revive our operations rapidly once trade shows resume,” McGowan says. “He has extensive connections to our industry and will be able to draw on these connections to get our capacity back quickly. In addition, Donnie has a temperament and positive outlook that I believe will help us rebuild this company.”

Trade show exhibit production firms suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic as businesses curtailed trade show appearances. Many of these exhibit production firms also have a related business building out retail interiors, another segment that took a hit during the pandemic.

For Condit Exhibits, the summer of 2020 brought the loss of their beloved VP of Operations, Richard Raedeke (below), who passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. He had been with Condit more than 30 years.

“The last year has been extremely tough, and even without COVID, losing our fearless captain of the ship was a devastating blow to us all,” MacDonald says. “I cannot replace Richard, but I will try my hardest to honor the amazing culture and solid foundations he worked so hard to provide for his Condit family. He was a great and influential leader whose legacy will not be forgotten.”

MacDonald looks to help Condit rebound after what has been a challenging year for live events.

“The hardest things to deal with during COVID have been the inconsistencies and the unknowns,” MacDonald says. “Hopefully, normalcy comes sooner rather than later, but knowing we have the greatest team in place and ready when it does is a great relief.”

Condit capabilities custom fabrication

A worldwide trade show exhibit house, Condit Exhibits specializes in creating custom event and trade show booths, museum displays and exhibits, and temporary event structures for clients around the globe. With more than 75 years in business, its team of engineers, designers, and fabricators partners with clients to successfully design unique exhibits.

Virtual exhibit design for Okuma

During the pandemic, a number of Condit’s clients created virtual events to mimic live trade shows, introduce new products and capture prospective customers. Condit won an award in part for its work in this area, such as a virtual exhibit design for Okuma, a global provider of CNC machine tools and CNC controls. Okuma partnered with Condit’s Chicago office (formerly known as Exhibit Source, Inc., which Condit acquired in 2019) to showcase their technology.

Using existing renderings and models originally designed for a physical version of Okuma’s trade show booth, Condit designers and developers adapted the concept into an interactive virtual exhibit. With machine demos, live chat, videos, and other presentations, Okuma was able to gather more than 700 qualified leads from around the world in the first week of the virtual experience’s launch.
