FAIRFAX, VA – The Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) Educational Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2021 scholarship program. Last year, a total of $35,400 in WMIA Educational Foundation scholarships were awarded to help 25 college students continue their education in the woodworking industry.
Each year, the WMIA gives out college scholarships to students who want to study wood technology, machinery, and related fields. To date, the WMIA Educational Foundation has provided more than $480,000 to assist talented students with furthering their educational and career goals.
Any student or college-bound individual who is planning to enroll, or is currently enrolled, in a wood science or wood technology program is eligible to apply. Scholarship candidates must have graduated from high school or its equivalent before July 1, 2021. The deadline for applications is March 26, 2021.
The Woodworking Machinery Industry Association (WMIA) is a trade association representing importers and distributors of woodworking machinery and ancillary equipment in North America. Since 1977, WMIA has grown to be the recognized voice of importers and distributors and a vital communications link between suppliers and the many manufacturers of wood products in North America.
WMIA and WMIA’s Educational Foundation are strongly committed to ensuring that the woodworking machinery industry remains vital and vibrant by providing educational programs, such as the WTII Boot Camp, as well as through the provision of scholarships to high school and college students interested in furthering their education.
